Do I HAVE to have the Apple AV cord to play a video from a video ipod onto a tv?
I have a brand new video ipod, an off brand cable that goes into the ipod headphone jack with the red, yellow, and white cables going into my tv. I can get audio to come out of the tv but no video. What am I doing wrong? I have tried all combinations of settings on the ipod and inputs on the tv. Does it only work with the Apple AV cable or is there a special trick to making it work with others? This cable was the one the guys at Best Buy sold me when I told them what I wanted to do. I want to watch TV shows on my TV that I bought from iTunes and know I can't burn them onto a playable DVD, so I want to connect my iPod to the TV directly.
I read somewhere that Apple mixed up the colors on the connections in an attempt to make people have to buy their cable. Try swapping the connections around until you get the right order.
