Audio options for Yamaha 6050 and Oppo 980?
Will I get better sound using the 5.1 analog inputs or the digital connections on a regular dvd player? I think I'm going to get the Oppo 980. HDMI for the Yamaha is vidio only. I know I will have to use the analog connections when I go to Blu Ray to get any HD sound, but will this make any difference on the Oppo?
The whole buzz with Oppo is the quality internal DACs and audio circuits - it is way better than most mid-prices receivers. I would use OPPOs analog outputs to connect to Yamaha.
Buy you have your own ears - connect them both ways, and see which one you like better! If you do not hear the difference - save on cables, and go with digital connection.
