Surround Sound: Rear Speakers in Front?
Just got a surround sound systems. The Budget one from LG... Nothing special.
My question is...
Would putting the rear speakers in front interfere with the sound flow originally intended for?
Cant put the rear speakers in proper place because too many gaps (doors). Breaking the walls or ceiling is not a option.
Put the speakers on the floor (or on stands) behind your listening position, and then tilt them so that they point up towards the listeners' ears. If you can't tilt them, then lay them down so the speaker output faces the ceiling. If you can't put them somehwere in the back, then don't connect them at all, it will be disorienting.
Nearly all movies on disc have 5.1 channels of discrete sound. The person who posted that most movies are in Pro Logic surround (2.0 channels) is mistaken. Perhaps they set up their theater with analog stereo cables instead of a digital cable capable of carrying 5.1 channels. Or else they did not enable 5.1 digital surround output from their DVD player.
