Using Bose Jewel Speakers with none-Bose receiver?
I have Bose Jewel Double Cube Speakers (set of four, plus a center speaker) from a Bose Series IV Lifestyle System. Can I use these with a regular, none-bose receiver and a regular powered subwoofer? I've tried to hook them up and the "protect" mode on the receiver keeps engaging.
The short answer is that the cubes need the accustomas module( note that it is not called a sub woofer) to work properly. It really is not a matter of impedance (although that does play a role). It is more of the matter that the cubes do not have any crossover circuitry (space savings) and therefore can not take a full range full power signal. This usually does not cause issue with the system but only when you try to replace part of this most proprietary system.
