How do I re-record computer audio from just 1 speaker?
I am listenting to a police dispatch tape. The sound from the left speaker is the actual radio transmissions, the sound from the right speaker is the digital background "time counter." Is there a way to re-record this on my computer so I hardly hear the background counter? Right now it's so loud it overpowers the dispatch audio.
I recommend using Audacity (its a free audio recording program). Set the recording channels to stereo(its under options I think). And then take an output from your computer or whatever your using to listen to the tape, and plug it into your line in or mic input on your computer. Then when you hit record you should see two channels recording one for left and one for right. I think you edit the channels separately from there, so if you want you could lower or mute the volume on the right speaker/channel.
